Pearls are a symbol of classic beauty. They have been called the tears of Gods and are one of the worlds first gems. There are three types of pearls, natural, cultured, and imitation. The cultured pear is often misunderstood. Most people believe these are fake, or imitation pearls. In fact they are very real. A pearl is formed when an oyster traps an irritant, such as a grain of sand. The oyster creates a fluid to coat this irritant and over time the fluid is built up and forms a pearl. A cultured pearl is created with the same process, only the irritant is implanted sugically as opposed to naturally occurring.

There are many types of cultured pearls. Saltwater pearls are considered more precious and are usually more uniform and round. Freshwater pearls tupically have an irregular shape. There are many different shapes from the round pearl, to rice shaped, to blister pearls, and other irregular shaped pearls. They can also come in may colors ranging from white, to chocolate, to a deep gray color. Cultured pearls are widely available and can be purchased by the strand, ready to create a unique jewelry piece, or as ready-made jewelry to be worn.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! Though this article is not just about diamonds, it will give you a little history on how birthstones came to be. The history of birthstones began with the breastplate of Aaron in the Bible from the book of Exodus. At that time, the breastplate was a religious garment that represented the twelve tribes of Israel. Later on, the writings of Flavius Josephus and St. Jerome (1st century AD-5th century AD) came up with the idea that each gemstone held special powers linked to astrology signs. They believed that wearing a birthstone at the right time would have a calming effect on the person and keep the person safe.

In India, nine different gemstones were assigned to nine different planets. Certain gemstones are prescribed according to the person’s health and the challenges they are facing in their lives. The idea that a gemstone should be worn according to the person’s birth month is a modern concept. Birthstones change and have different meanings depending on different cultures. The birthstones most common in America include: garnet, amethyst, aquamarine, diamond, emerald, moonstone, ruby, peridot, sapphire, opal, topaz and turquoise. Birthstones would make beautiful, special gifts for any event!

The simplest points to remember in buying gemstones is that diamonds are the most durable or strongest followed by sapphires. If you buy star sapphires, the durability diminishes since the star shape is actually a deformity in the sapphire stone. The same is true of diamonds. When seen under the glass of the jeweler’s, one can see cracks, lines, and other signs of imperfections which makes the diamond less durable. Those diamonds with visible imperfections are less expensive than diamonds that have no visible imperfections to the naked eye or to the jeweler’s glass. Another aspect to consider when buying gemstones is rarity. A gemstone is more valuable when there are fewer of them around. When the market becomes glutted with diamonds, their value goes down. Gemstones like rubies are more expensive than garnets although both are red stones. The reason is that rubies are rarer, more durable, equal to the diamond and to the sapphire and many are considered to be the most beautiful stones in the world because of their color. The question of beauty in gemstones depends on individual tastes. However, in general, the gemologist would say that the ruby is the most beautiful stone and therefore more valuable than even many diamonds, sapphires and emeralds, that are also beautiful, rare and durable.

Ladies, if you think you’re about to get engaged and you’ve been perusing the Alabama WildBlue Deals to get home internet so you can look for rings all day you’ve got to step back. There are a few rules for talking to your beloved about rings and we’re spelling them out for you:
Don’t Talk Price – The people at the jewelry store will do that for you. If you put a price or number on the ring your boyfriend will feel pressure and the last thing you want is to come across greedy, right?
Only Pick Two – If you go to a jewelry store or look online, only pick out TWO rings (one is best) to show your boyfriend. Any more than that can confuse him and leave him struggling with which to pick and it’s best to narrow down your selection anyway.
Get Checked – Go into a store and be professionally measured to get your size correct. You’ll also want to see what type of metal and stone you want before your boyfriend gets too far down the road.

Who doesn’t love vintage jewelry and estate sales? This is all the more reason to have a base of knowledge when it comes to choosing quality pieces of estate and vintage jewelry from estate sales. Just because a piece of jewelry comes from such a sale does not mean that it’s not a quality piece, actually quite the contrary. There have actually been some fantastic pieces of vintage jewelry to be found at estate sales. Believe it or not there have been many people to pay a relatively small purchase price to discover later that their small investment was worth quite a bit more upon appraisal.Didn’t catch that? This explains it.

The important thing to keep in mind before discounting an estate sale as a place to purchase jewelry is that many times, as small pieces, the owners simply want to liquidate and minimize their possessions. This is why, very often, it’s not unusual to find a valuable piece that is mixed in with what might be considered costume jewelry. Keeping this in mind it’s important to make sure to look through all the pieces. Even if a piece just seems to be interesting as opposed to valuable, remember, vintage costume jewelry is also valuable.

Choosing the right hair cut that fits your personality is essential to giving yourself an overall good look. A cut that does not match who you are could make you appear strange or fabricated. However, if you have a cut that matches your personality it could highlight your good qualities even more and draw people to you like magnets.

For the conservative person an excellent cut would be some kind of medium length cut that keeps the hair neat and together. A headband could be used to push the hair back as well. This way the hair is not loose or flying freely all over. This style suits the persona of a woman who is very guarded as well as organized.

For the more flirty and fun girl a head full of medium length fly away curls would be appropriate. The hair is free to move around, the length is attractive, and the curls are very very flirtatious.

For the business type a bob or a layered cut would suit the personality for it is neat, it is designed in an architectural type fashion, and it does not break any dress codes.

Choose whatever best fits the person in you.

Whether looking for an engagement ring, birthday gift, a pair of earrings, or just looking to have a piece of jewelry repaired, you need to find the best jeweler in your area, in order to be sure you are getting the best deals, and getting the ultimate service and jewelry. When making a large or expensive jewelry purchase, you want to make sure to find a reputable jeweler in your area, and remember, cheapest doesn’t always mean the best.

To find a reputable jeweler in your area the best thing to do is ask people you know in the area, especially if they have made a big jewelry purchase. The best advice and the most honest way to get a true opinion is through word of mouth. If a jeweler in the area is fairly priced, offers great customer service, is willing to match other locations prices, and is willing to give you the best product on the market, you will hear it from people in your area.

Always ask around when making this kind of purchase. You want to make sure you are getting a fair deal, and that you are getting the best quality jewelry on the market. Trust consumer reviews over huge advertisment campaigns.
